Presentation Guidelines πŸ“

Author(s) with accepted submissions have the following guidelines for each of the presentation types:

  • Keynote Speakers: 35 minutes oral presentation, followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers.
  • Oral Presentation: 20 minute oral presentation, followed by 10 minutes of question and answers.
  • Poster Presentation: Posters must be presented as A0 size.
  • Food-for-thought Presentation: 10 minute oral presentation, followed by 20 minutes of discussion time.

Venue

Sir Ducan Rice Library - Front View

RetroEval 2026 will be held at the Sir Duncan Rice Library at the University of Aberdeen. The venue address is:

The Sir Duncan Rice Library is on the Old Aberdeen campus and is accessed from the Academic Plaza between the Fraser Noble and Meston buildings.

Travelling to Aberdeen

By Air ✈️

The nearest airport is Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ).

From the airport, participants can travel to the city or university by taxi or bus.

Taxi: A taxi from Aberdeen Airport to the University usually costs around Β£25. Official airport taxis are available outside the terminal, and airport taxi fares to the city centre are metered; in light traffic, the city centre journey is estimated at around 25 minutes and Β£20–£25.

Bus 🚌

Option 1: Ember buses (E11/ E7)

The bus can take you directly from the airport to the University of Aberdeen in 30 min. The coaches feature free wifi and charging points.

Fare: Β£5-7 pounds

Please note: Tickets must be booked in advance (can be done up to 10 min in advance). This can be done via the Ember app or their website.

Option 2: The Stagecoach Jet 727 & local buses

Take the 727 from the Aberdeen Airport and get down at the city centre/Union Square bus stand. Jet 727 runs up to every 15 minutes. From the Union Square bus stand, you can board the 61 or 68 and get off at the University of Aberdeen stop.

Fare: Β£4.50 pounds for both combined (only with a Stagecoach DayRider pass).

From the city centre, participants can take a local bus or taxi to the University.

Train πŸš†

On exiting the Aberdeen Railway Station there are a few options to reach the venue.

Option 1: Walk to Guild Street (stop M1)

  • Bus number to board: 20
  • Get off at: King’s College, University of Aberdeen

Sir Duncan Rice Library is a 5 min walk from the stop.

Option 2: From the Union Square Bus Station

As you exit the railway station, walk down and past the Costa coffee and head in the direction of Itsu Aberdeen, you will see the Aberdeen Bus Station a few meters ahead.

  • Bus numbers to board: Stagecoach: 61, 68, X63
  • Get off at: University of Aberdeen stop

Walk back to the main entrance of the university. Sir Duncan Rice Library is a 5 min walk from the main entrance. You can check out their bus timetable for the bus stop closest to your destination through their website or their app (Android/ iOS).

Option 3: First bus from Shiprow (stop M2)

  • Bus number to board: 1B
  • Get off at: School Drive - N-bound

You can also book an Uber from the airport and use it to get around the city. These are also listed by the University of Aberdeen for visitors.

Car Parking πŸš—

All car parking within the University of Aberdeen is reserved for university staff and is strictly controlled. Public street parking may be available in surrounding streets around the university.

Payments and Currency πŸ’·

The local currency is Pound Sterling (Β£ / GBP).

Most shops, cafΓ©s, taxis, buses, and restaurants accept debit/credit cards and contactless payment. It is still useful to carry a small amount of cash for emergencies.

Mobile Data and Wi-Fi πŸ›œ

Visitors can use:

  • The university is part of the eduroam network. If you do not have access to eduroam and need wifi, please ask one of the organizers for help.
  • UK eSIMs or international roaming.
  • SIM cards available at airports, supermarkets, and mobile shops.

Please contact the organisers if you need help with Wi-Fi access during the symposium.

Food and Dietary Requirements πŸ₯—

Lunch/refreshments will be provided as per the symposium programme.

If you have dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free, or allergies, please inform the organisers in advance.

The university has cafΓ©s (Kilau) and shops situated within walking distance from the program venue.

Additionally, cafes are available around Old Aberdeen and the city centre if your hotel is closer to either.

Emergency and Medical Help πŸ₯

For emergencies in the UK, call 999 or 112. Both numbers connect to the UK emergency services.

For urgent medical advice in Scotland when it is not life-threatening, call NHS 24 on 111.
